Opera
As a librettist with roots in musical theater, I’ve spent years exploring the power of blending words and music. Opera brings this power to another level transforming the mundane into the mythical. I’ve always been compelled to take something from real life and push it into a magical dimension, and opera is the perfect medium for that kind of storytelling.
I’m especially passionate about telling stories that reflect the experiences of my community as a trans artist, particularly at a time when trans rights are under threat. Opera offers a platform to explore these issues with an intensity and scale that can resonate deeply with audiences.
QBOT Feels Something
This aria shows my intense interest in the advancements in AI and our relationship with this technology as it becomes more interwoven in our daily lives. My work continuously asks questions about this relationship and how we will evolve along with the AI among us.
Music Library Love Song
This aria is about how music can connect singers through history and across gender roles.
Sappho in Space
This aria reflects my love of space and mythic poetry. I love to take historical characters and put them in interesting new settings with a modern perspective. The critique of sexism, extremism, and religion comes from my days as a religion & philosophy major in undergrad.
